Roadtrip to Days Gone By

This weekend I got to stretch the tires on my new car when we took my 93-year-old grandmother home. To get to grandmother's house we take lots of Texas back roads where there are LOTS of wonderful snippits of days gone by.

One of the places we always drive by is this old gas station that has been closed for years. I mean DECADES! I know that by the last price of gas on the pumps... $0.31 per gallon!!! HELLO!? It's now 12-13 times that now.

We stopped and took lots of pictures. The textures are fabulous not to mention the old gas pumps. Here's a few I took.

Just a bit of history. Standard Oil Company was renamed in 1955 to Mobilgas. So this gas price is from the late 50s. There's not even a spot for the dollar! Mobilgas became Mobil in 1963. In 1999, Exxon and Mobil merged to become ExxonMobil. I figure at some point, they'll drop the Mobil and just become Exxon.
