Actually, it's a picture looking down the TOPSIDE of a traffic cone. TERRIFIC job Susie!!! Keep wracking up those points.

I'm soooooooooooo sorry for the delay for the answer to last Monday's Mystery Monday post. It's been one helluva week!!! We had two excellent guesses and one of them was correct!!

ChrisKnits guessed "...snow globe after being shook up." and they were right!! Actually it's more like a flamingo globe.

Did you know that snow globes first appeared at the Universal Expo of 1878 but the first snow globe with a miniature Eiffel Tower in it was sold in 1889 in Paris. The first snow globe related patent in the USA in 1929 was granted to Joseph Garaja of Pittsburgh. He who wanted to make snow globes that had fish underwater.  During the 1950s, snow globes were mass produced and became wonderful kitsch souvenirs. Remember all those we bought on family vacations? Shake, shake, shake!

Speaker on my dashboard!!!

Who knew it looked SOOOOOOOOO disgusting up close. AND my car is clean!! Just lots of dust gets down in those holes. I'm not sure WHY there is a speaker like this in the middle of my dash...it's a strange place.

Yes, the picture was the inside of an original Slinky...but the miniature version. It's one of my many desk toys. I love to twirl it in my fingers and stretch it between my thumb and middle finger while I'm pondering the intense graphic design issues of our times. It's quite meditative.

My Slinky was one of my FAVORITE toys growing up. Not sure what it was about it but I LOVED my Slinky...and still do today. It would get all twisted it up in a giant metal spaghetti knot that would distort and bend the metal spring. No matter how ugly it got or how misshapen it became, I still loved my Slinky.

Did you know...
Naval engineer, Richard James, invented the Slinky in the early 1940s. In November, 1945, it was demonstrated at Gimbel's in Philadelphia. It was a hit!! They sold for $1 each and sold out in 90 minutes. The original Slinky was 2.5" tall with 98 coils of high-grade blue-black Swedish steel. Today, is the official state toy for the State of Pennsylvania.

I got a wild idea this afternoon. I thing I'll start a new segment here on Mondays called

MYSTERY MONDAYS

::and the crowd goes wild!!!::

Mystery Monday will be a strange picture where YOU guess what it is. It could be extreme close-up or just a really weird picture. And you, the audience, can guess what it is. Maybe I'll even throw out a prize to the first winning guess. Who knows! :P

So without further delay...Here is the very FIRST MYSTERY MONDAY picture.
